How to Start Your Day with Intention and Gratitude (and a Dash of Cat Chaos)

Mine usually starts before the alarm clock has a chance to buzz, thanks to my two furry rascals. According to them, they’re on the brink of starvation every single morning because apparently, nobody ever feeds them. (Insert dramatic cat sigh here.)

But honestly, I often wake before the alarm anyway. I’m not a “roll over, pull the covers up, and hide from the world” kinda gal. Nope. I’m a “let’s wake up and just be for a couple of minutes” kind of person. Instead of leaping straight out of bed, I give myself a few minutes of stillness.

In those quiet minutes, I do a little morning routine of my own:

  • I say a prayer to a higher source, expressing love and respect for all that is.

  • I share gratitude for the people and things in my life.

  • I set my intention to show up as the best version of myself today, helping others where I can.

Once that’s done, I get up to officially start my day — carefully sidestepping my furry critters as they weave right in front of me to make sure I’m headed in the correct direction (a.k.a. the food container).

This small morning intention-setting ritual is pretty quick: it takes only 3–5 minutes, but it changes everything. It sets the tone for my mindset, keeps me grounded in gratitude, and gives me a “north star” to come back to when the day gets messy.

Let's be real: not every day is perfect. Life is full of unexpected challenges and a whole bunch of different people we bump into. But that little morning practice reminds me of how I want the day to go. And when I start my day with gratitude, prayer, and intention, I’m more likely to create a positive, productive, and meaningful day.

So, let's talk about you now. How do you start your day?  Would there be any benefit to trying a new approach to your new day.  I’m not saying that yours would or should look like mine.

What could a new start to your day perhaps look like and what might it do for you
